Description

The impact of the COVID-19 on children’s mental health should not be underestimated, with a significant number suffering from PTSD because of COVID-19.

Children are suffering from increasing levels of worry, fear, anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress. Living day-to-day within a pandemic has a negative psychological impact on children that may not be equipped or have access to tools to support their emotions, not to mention the implications of living with increased isolation and loss of connection. Symptoms can also include low mood, irritability,  diminished ability to cope, sleep problems, and tearfulness.

The impact of school closures, increased time away from their peers, and worries about their health will likely impact them in the short term and have longer-term consequences for their mental health even after the immediate COVID-19 pandemic.

Evidence highlights that the earlier the help, the more effective the intervention. With many school counselors working with limited resources and tight budgets, the Body Mind Being Project can help. We have spent the last six years working with youth struggling with PTSD and complex trauma using mindfulness, emotional regulation, and resilience. We are working to create comfortable and accessible daily resources for parents and teachers to utilize daily for best results, besides our facilitators’ ability to teach calming and mindfulness, and emotional intelligence tools daily in the classroom for 10 minutes with zoom. We intend to raise enough funds that these services can be available at no cost to school districts and parents.

We are asking you, our supporters, to adopt a classroom for $250. You will be provided with the school, grade, and the teacher’s name.
