Experience personal transformation during your yoga training in beautiful Yelapa, Mexico. Accessible only by boat, Yelapa is a unique community— “one of the few remaining on Earth where the original inhabitants still reside on, own, and control their own land.” A reservation legally set aside and protected for its indigenous people. Your journey begins at the Pura Vida  Eco Retreat Center where we spend the first ten days of this five month training immersed in nature and ancient yoga healing practices.

At The Body Mind Being Institute’s 300-Hour Advanced Studies Program we desire to help people discover their authenticity and deepen their relationship with their own unique practice and enhance their teaching skills. Our yoga teacher training is rooted in embodiment and empowerment. We are for people that are serious about change in their own lives and making an inclusive change in the world. We will train teachers to guide their students to remember their own innate healing ability. We want to help people become genuine, empowered, embodied and live in their true nature.

Our training combines ancient healing Indian traditions through the study of the chakras, nadis and vayus. deepen your understanding of the balancing capacities of these mysterious energy channels. You will learn concrete ways to help others overcome obstacles toward their growth and well-being, and you will develop a practice for effective dialogue, cueing, and body-mind integration that leads to life changing action and change off your mat. Learn to assist your students in strengthening their own embodiment, understanding, and relationship to their bodies.

After successful completion of your 300 hour advanced studies you will be eligible to register for a 500 RTY with Yoga Alliance.

10-Day Yelapa Immersion 


  • 10-days in authentic tropical cabins situated above the Bay of Banderas
  • Use of the resorts private pool, hot tub, kayaks, paddleboards, and snorkel gear

3% fee if paying with credit/debit card, per 9 days on average, Dinner on the last night, airport transfers, travel insurance, optional activities: Massage, Yoga Therapy, Reiki, Private Breathwork.

Class Curriculum

Continuing on learning a scientific system thousands of years old for helping us manage our daily obstacles and patterns. Strengthening your students awareness of the subtle body and innate wisdom with asana, pranayama, energy medicine and meditation. Better understand the koshas as layers of form and consciousness. Common obstructions and some yoga interventions for each layer.

Advanced Breath Work

Learn anatomy of breathing, the science behind yogic breathing, advanced breathing practices such as, Prāṇāyāma practices of anuloma, viloma, mahat kapālabhati, nadi-shodhana, ardha sharira, bhastrika, bramari, and more. The use of mula, uddiyāna, and jalandhāra bandha. Use of breathing and healing mūdra, including sharira, prana nadi, merūdanda, prāṇa kriya, aswini, vajroli, krama and bhairavi mūdra  the relationship of pranayam to both meditation and the prana vayus.

Yoga Psychology

Yoga is a methodology meant to harmonize and deepen awareness of the physical, psychological and spiritual elements of our being, from the skin to the deepest marrow of presence. In this inquiry, we exploring “living our yoga” we will immerse into the rich Philosophy of Yoga through the Yoga Sutras, Bhakti Yoga, and the yamas and Nyamas through ritual and ceremony and further expression of:

  • Karma Yoga – Yoga of Action & Selfless Service
  • Jnana Yoga – Yoga of Wisdom & Self-study
  • Dhyana Yoga – Yoga of Meditation
  • Bhakti Yoga – Yoga of Love & Devotion

The importance of Daily Sadhana, with some emphasis on meditation practice thru mantra, sensory awareness, tantra meditation, and silent observation.

Holistic Anatomy and Physiology of Yoga

Through the study of holistic anatomy and physiology of yoga we develop a deeper  understanding of the chakras and corresponding visceral cavities, including key structures of gross anatomy, key fascial, marma and nadi pathways and some yoga interventions for each area. Gain a stronger understanding of structural anatomy and holistic physiology as it relates to therapeutic yoga and to develop intervention strategies to explore and adapt to different populations.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Diversity is a reality, but inclusion is a choice—and the ability to lead inclusively is critical to driving effective change. Are you equipped to lead that change? Learn the leadership tools, barriers to disconnection, and insights and knowledge you need to create classes of inclusion.

Foundations of Ayurveda

Learn your own innate constitution to establish harmony and balance and gain basic skills to apply this understanding to the lives of your clients and students. Ayurveda is how our mind, body, and spirit are interconnected to nature and the world around us. We will experience this directly during the retreat and into the remainder of the training. Ayurveda is the sister science of yoga and focuses primarily on lifestyle practices that support health, balance, and self-transformation. Design dosha balancing asana sequences and kriyas for different imbalances. Create a practical lifestyle plan for yourself (try it out) and your students based upon specific needs and goals. Understand how the practices of yoga are supported by ayurvedic diet and lifestyle principles.

Trauma- Informed Yoga Educator TIYE®

Learn to instruct others on the impact of trauma and how somatic and yoga based interventions are proven to treat trauma. Explore other cultures study into trauma. Learn about your own barriers of disconnection and false narratives that may limit your ability to work with special populations. Work to support our not for profit in destigmatizing trauma. Learn to provide yoga as an adjunctive treatment for PTSD, complex/developmental trauma, anxiety/depression, and addictions. Study the neurobiology and neuroscience of trauma and how it can specifically tone the vagus nerve and strengthen the nervous system.

Our Instructors have a combined over 10 years experience facilitating advanced yoga instructor trainings in the Grand Rapids Area and abroad.

Meet Your Instructors

Raechel Morrow 

She has dedicated 17 years to teaching yoga.  She has a Masters degree from Pacifica Graduate University in Depth Psychology, Counseling, and Archetypal Studies. She has worked in the field of trauma recovery for eight years, including a certified trauma specialist. She is wild for the experience of love and connection. She encourages her students to search the inner being of themselves and find freedom through integration of lost parts of Self.

Betsy Rosenbrook

Betsy believes that healing is possible for all people. Through a sense of belonging, growing awareness and a deeper knowing of who you are and what matters to you, meaningful change can happen.  Authentic connection is what drives Betsy’s professional endeavors as a Social Worker and Yoga Educator.  She has a graduate degree in Social Work and has worked in the Grand Rapids community in various capacities for 20 years and has been a registered yoga teacher for 6 years.  She is passionate about combining the wisdom of both worlds in her professional and her private life.

Erin Madden

Erin, is proud to serve as a Senior Trainer for Starr Commonwealth and as the founder of
Sacred Being Yoga. Erin lives by the deep belief that all beings are sacred, and she is dedicated to making space for people to experience their sacred wholeness in connection to Self and the universe. Erin began her
journey with studying, practicing, and teaching yoga and mindfulness 23 years ago. More
recently in 2018, Erin earned her 300 hour trauma sensitive yoga teacher certification from
Grand Rapids Healing Yoga, and in 2020 she earned an additional 300 hours of training to be
certified as a yoga therapy practitioner by the Body Mind Being Institute. Erin has guided trauma
sensitive yoga practices for trauma survivors in both group and individuals. Erin is passionate
about living Dr. Martin Luther King’s dream of a beloved community.
