Yoga is a traditional practice from the ancient Indian culture and is considered to be the science of holistic living. Breathing practices are one of the key elements within the practice of Yoga. Human respiration is the only physiological system that is under both autonomic and voluntary nervous control and thus it is also given special emphasis in yogic texts. It is proven that yogic breathing techniques are found to have profound effects on autonomic functions.   1. Get to practice key breathing exercises from an ancient tradition with a guide to start your own practice.
  2. Understand the physiological, emotional, and biological mechanisms of Pranayama based on evidence- based research.
  3. Learn the clinical and social applications of Pranayama

This program is designed for students of all levels. Participants can learn easy exercises to relieve day-to-day stress and to improve overall wellness. You may sit on a yoga mat or a chair. Please do not eat a large meal within 2 hours prior to the workshop. Plan to drink adequate fluid throughout the day.
